Professional Identity
The Healthcare Science Programme are keen to gather your views and experiences on professional identity. ‘Professional identity’ refers to the way we define ourselves in relation to our work, including the values, beliefs, and practices that shape our sense of professional self.
We hope the responses from this survey will help provide the profession with a collective language. Having a collective language will aid increase sense of profession identity, to drive attraction, improve retention, promote wellbeing and increase transformation engagement.
You are invited to share your views; this survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete. We encourage you to provide us with both quantitative and qualitative feedback to help shape the language and terminology used for healthcare science professionals.
There is also an option to get involved in additional conversations regarding your responses face to face or over Microsoft Teams if you wish to be more involved.

Training and Education Review
The Healthcare Science Programme at HEIW is undertaking a training and education review for all Healthcare Science professions across Wales. Having a clear career pathway for staff working in NHS Wales is vital to ensure career development and progression opportunities at all levels. As part of mapping the career pathways for these professions, exploring the suitability of current training and education provision is important. This enables us to understand what currently works well, what doesn’t, and where are the gaps and potential future needs.
You are therefore invited to share your views and ideas using the below survey (MS Forms). Your responses will be kept strictly confidential, no personal details are required. This survey should take 15-20minutes to complete. Following its completion, there will be an opportunity to have additional conversations regarding your responses face to face or over TEAMS to capture further in-depth details and valuable information.
