Accessibility Statement

We’re committed to making our website accessible so it can be used by as many people as possible.

We aim to make our website accessible to the widest possible audience. This means, for example, that you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of our websites using a keyboard
  • navigate most of our websites using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of our websites using a screen reader

We also try to make the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have additional access needs.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • considering accessibility at the start of a website design project, and throughout
  • making accessibility the whole team’s responsibility
  • carrying out regular accessibility audits and testing

How accessible is our website?

Parts of our website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • Some elements’ foreground and background colours don’t meet WCAG 2 AA minimum contrast ratio thresholds
  • Some links don’t have discernible text
  • links to websites that we do not own or manage and so cannot guarantee their accessibility

How to request content in an accessible format

If you need information in a different format please email us at  and tell us:

  • the web address (URL) of the content that you need
  • your contact name and email address
  • the type of format you need

Reporting accessibility problems with our website

If you find any problems that are not listed on this page or if you think we’re not meeting the accessibility requirements, email us at  to report this.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

Some content is non-accessible, ie pdf documents, for the following reasons.

  • Some elements’ foreground and background colours don’t meet WCAG 2 AA minimum contrast ratio thresholds
  • Some links don’t have discernible text

PDFs and other documents

  • The structure of the content is not always available to assistive technology, which makes the content difficult to understand and navigate for users of screen readers
  • The reading order of the content is not always logical, which means some content does not make sense when read out by text-to-speech software
  • Images do not always have text alternatives, which means some content is not available when using text-to-speech software

How we tested this website

Our website has been tested for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level A and level AA using an automated tool for accessibility WCAG 2.0 standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
