Continuing AHCS’ webinar series, the ‘Demystifying Surgical Robots’ webinar, in collaboration with the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers, took place on 17th June 2026. Hosted by Professor Stephen O’Connor and Simon Flower, the aim of this webinar is to understand surgical robots through exploration of the Da Vinci robot, manufactured by Intuitive Surgical Inc. In addition, the challenges, solutions and benefits of surgical robots in three surgical specialities, urological, colorectal and thoracic, as well anaesthesia for these procedures was be presented and discussed.
After our presentations, there was time for questions, comments and discussion as these specific examples may offer an insight into other procedures where surgical robots could be gainfully employed.
