Sleep Training and Recruitment Evaluation (STAR): A UK-wide cross-sectional survey of sleep physiology workforce training pathways, recruitment practices, and competency development.

The British Sleep Society (BSS) has launched a survey to assess career pathways within the sleep physiology specialty in the UK as part of a wider project with view to expanding sleep career promotion activities. Please see the below information from BSS regarding the survey.

This study aims to map current training routes, recruitment practices, and perceived competency development across the UK sleep physiology workforce. It seeks to better understand how sleep physiologists and related professionals are trained, recruited, and supported in practice, and to identify potential gaps in training pathways.

Who can participate?
Sleep physiologists, sleep technologists, clinical scientists, respiratory physiologists, nurses, and other professionals involved in sleep diagnostics, service delivery, training, or recruitment within the UK.

Survey details:

  • Approx. 25 questions
  • 10–15 minutes to complete
  • Fully anonymous
  • No identifiable data collected

This study has gained ethical approval from the University of Suffolk Ethics board.
